Joel Richard Petals Collection Extra Añejo Tequila

The Petals Collection is the decorative flagship of Joel Richard, the spirits label created by Joel Beth and Richard Trachtenberg, who run the Agoura Hills, California importer Pacific Edge Wine and Spirits and made their name bringing independent Scotch bottlings from A.D. Rattray and Wm Cadenhead into the U.S. With Petals they set out to make an extra añejo that works as a gift and a centerpiece as much as a sipper. The bottle is hand painted in multicolored petal-like florals and geometric patterns, and each one is finished individually by artisans, so every bottle is slightly different. The tequila inside is made from organically farmed 100% blue Weber agave from Amatitán, Jalisco, one of the historic agave towns of the Tequila Valley, then double distilled and aged in small oak casks well past the three-year extra añejo minimum. It is bottled at 40% ABV. As with every Joel Richard release, it is produced in small, limited quantities. Serve it neat at room temperature in a snifter or Glencairn, give it a few minutes in the glass, and hold on to the bottle once it is finished.
