Plantain-leaf Pussytoes

Plantain-leaf Pussytoes offer a gentle touch in rugged spaces. Native to eastern North America, this low-growing perennial forms a dense carpet and sends up fuzzy white blooms in spring — earning its common name and its place in pollinator gardens.

This tough plant thrives in dry, sandy soils and partial sun, making it a great choice for lawn replacements, slopes, or sunny clearings. With a spreading and low growing habit, it creates beautiful groundcover that suppresses weeds and supports native biodiversity.

It’s also a host plant for the American Lady butterfly — so planting Pussytoes isn’t just pretty, it’s purposeful. For gardeners seeking beautiful natives with ecological value and natural charm, this plant is a must-grow.
