Mountain Treats™ Lavender Penstemon

Mountain Treats™ Lavender Penstemon piles on the soft lavender-purple blooms from late spring well into summer, with sturdy, upright stems that don't quit. Each tubular flower is shaped for hummingbirds and long-tongued bees, and the plants rebloom dependably through the season for color that lingers when many other early-summer perennials have called it a day.

Bred by Darwin Perennials for first-year flowering, garden vigor, and reliable performance, this native hybrid penstemon reaches a tidy 20-24 inches tall and 18-24 inches wide. Its compact, container-friendly habit makes it equally at home in patio pots, sunny borders, and pollinator beds. It thrives in average, well-drained soil, takes drought and heat in stride, and shrugs off the humidity that can knock out lesser penstemons.

Deer- and rabbit-resistant, bee- and butterfly- and hummingbird-attracting, this is a workhorse perennial that loves to show off. Plant it in groups of three or five for a steady drumbeat of soft purple all summer long.
