Riqueza Cultural Extra Anejo Tequila
Riqueza Cultural is made at Tequila Selecto de Amatitán, NOM 1459, in Amatitán, Jalisco, in the lowland Tequila Valley. It is 100% blue Weber agave cooked in stone and brick ovens, crushed on a roller mill, fermented with spring water in stainless steel tanks, and double distilled in stainless pot stills, bottled at 40% ABV. The Extra Añejo category requires at least three years in oak, and Riqueza Cultural's version comes out amber and earthy, with the oak doing more work than sugar; a Tequila Matchmaker reviewer described a chalky, mineral opening, an earthy middle and a pleasant finish, and noted it is an unusual profile for an extra añejo. The brand is best known for ceramic decanters shaped as Mexica jaguar, eagle and serpent warriors and painted by hand, and this bottling is the same spirit in a decorative glass bottle with Mexican folk imagery, including a mariachi violinist and an eagle. The result is a mild, approachable sipper that works for someone easing into aged tequila or as a gift that looks the part without the ceramic price. Serve it neat in a small glass, or over one large ice cube.
